Loads of people have their own domain name these days. In The Netherlands it is particularly easy to get your own domain, like alexthissen.nl. But not everybody has the luxury of their own mail server responding to that domain and where they can create mailboxes at their own leisure.
Well, now you can too. Just go to domains.live.com and register your domain. You will then be able to create email accounts like info@alexthissen.nl. In fact, these will be Hotmail accounts, but they will use your domain name instead of hotmail.com or msn.com.
I’ve been using this for quite a while now and had this entry in my drafts for a while. What better moment than the final release of Custom Domains, as I read at Dare Obasanjo’s weblog. Read more here.
BTW, did you know that
- the red Beta text under Live Domains is still there and disappears after loading the page?
- the Windows icon on any Windows Live site reveals a menu after a little hovering?
