Just came back from two days of Bob Beauchemin‘s preconference sessions called “New Features in SQL Server 2005/.NET 2.0 for Developers – In Depth”. Slides and other materials should be up on the SQLSkills website in a couple of days after this posting.
Bob is an excellent trainer and speaker. He co-wrote the book “A first look at SQL Server 2005 for developers” from Addison-Wesley. It is pretty dated by now, because a lot of features have been changed or removed from or around SQL Server 2005 (like ObjectSpaces 😦 ).
It was fun. We didn’t get to cover all the materials but CLR integration, enhancements to security, the engine and T-SQL, Service Broker and HTTP EndPoints (Web Services). I’ll be writing some separate entries on the take-aways from these topics.
